Rosemount 3095MFA Mass Flowmeter | Emerson | Trademarco: A Practical Guide
The Rosemount 3095MFA is an Emerson mass flowmeter that combines the Rosemount 3095 MultiVariable transmitter with an Annubar averaging pitot tube. It measures differential pressure, static pressure and process temperature, and uses them to output fully compensated mass flow from a single assembly.
What it is and where it is used
The 3095MFA is part of Emerson's Annubar flowmeter family. Emerson drawing 00485-1018 covers the Model 485 Annubar sensor used across the 3051SFA, 3051CFA, 2051CFA and 3095MFA. What sets the 3095MFA apart is its MultiVariable transmitter with a built-in flow computer, which delivers compensated mass flow rather than a differential-pressure signal alone.
It is used in power generation, HVAC, oil and gas, district energy, chemical and general process plants.
How it works
An Annubar is an averaging pitot tube: it produces a differential-pressure signal from the flow in the pipe. In the 3095MFA, the MultiVariable transmitter measures that differential pressure together with static pressure and temperature, and its built-in flow computer combines the three into a compensated mass flow output. The transmitter communicates over the HART protocol.
Emerson's drawing shows the sensor installed through a Flange-Lok mounting, with high- and low-pressure instrument valves and an equalizer valve, an optional RTD port for temperature, and either an integral-mount transmitter head or remote-mount instrument connections.
Key specifications to check
- Pipe hole size. For sensor size 1 with Flange-Lok mounting, Emerson's drawing specifies a 3/4 in (19 mm) hole in the pipe for accurate flow measurement, and warns not to drill it oversize or torch-cut it.
- Mounting. Integral transmitter head, or remote-mount instrument connections.
- Temperature input. The drawing shows an optional RTD port.
- Communication. HART protocol.
- Model number. The full model string from the transmitter nameplate, so the configuration can be matched exactly.
The dimensions on Emerson's drawing are nominal and for reference only. Every specification should be taken from Emerson's current documentation for the exact model.
Common applications
- Compensated mass flow in large pipes
- Steam energy metering in headers
- Natural gas flow
- HVAC air flow with compensation
Sourcing considerations
Trademarco Global is an independent sourcing company, not Emerson's distributor or representative. Pricing is quoted per enquiry.
For an accurate quotation, send the full model number from the nameplate, the line size, the process fluid and operating conditions, and the quantity. Where an original configuration is no longer available, we look for an equivalent — and any replacement has to be checked against Emerson's documentation before it is ordered.
Frequently asked questions
